Catch Records: 1924 to 1932
The Tyee Club’s first nine years of records were lost. Although there is no official documentation
explaining how they were lost, it is understood that they were washed away by a major storm that
hit Campbell River’s Tyee Spit on December 23, 1932. Further information on this story can be found
in Peter Wipper’s report on the catch record project.
The only catch records that remain from 1924 to 1932 are found in the Club’s membership roster
which was published annually in the Club’s yearbook. The roster notes the name and address of the
angler, their largest Tyee and the date on which they caught it. Although these records represent
only a very small fraction of the fish registered, they are never-the-less, are all that remain. With the
University of Victoria’s assistance, these records were digitized and can be found here in
chronological order.
